18 DESIGNERS. ONE RUNWAY. THE NIGHT JEWISH NEW YORK HAS BEEN WAITING FOR AND ABBY KIKIROV WILL BE THERE 🙌
By William Lebovics · 2026-09-07

There are fashion shows. There are parties. And then, once in a generation, there is a night that a whole community talks about for years afterward.
On Thursday, September 10, 2026, I LOVE JEWISH GIRLS takes over the Léman Ballroom at 41 Broad Street, two stories of fluted columns and ocean-liner murals, a proscenium stage, and marble that has been standing quietly in the Financial District waiting for exactly this, for the first Jewish runway ever presented at New York Fashion Week.
Eighteen Jewish designers. One runway. A Broadway legend. A reigning Miss Universe Israel. A red carpet, a live art auction, a live performance, and a room built so that no guest sits more than three rows from the clothes.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. The runway starts at 8:15 p.m. And the timing is the whole point: this lands in the last days before Rosh Hashana, the week Jewish New York is already reaching for each other, new suits, new dresses, new year, new everything. I LOVE JEWISH GIRLS turns that instinct into a party.
"Jewish fashion is everywhere. We just built the room to celebrate it proudly."
- Alejandro Glatt, Founder and Producer
THE MAN WHO SENT A PAPAYA TO THE MOON
You cannot understand this night without understanding the person who built it.
Alejandro Glatt is a third-generation Ashkenazi Jewish Mexican artist, and he is one of the most genuinely unclassifiable creative figures working today. He is the first Mexican artist to send a papaya to the Moon, his work traveled on the Lunaprise lunar museum mission in 2024, making him the first Mexican Jewish artist with art on the lunar surface. He has shown at the Louvre in Paris, at Art Basel Miami, at SXSW, and in Tel Aviv, Tulum, Mykonos, Ibiza and Costa Rica. He has collaborated with Forever 21, Guess, Lamborghini and Dr. Simi. He holds the GBA Arts Award (2022) and the Sustainable Digital Art Award (2023).
His signature practice, Feel the Fruit, uses fruit as a universal language, papaya as a symbol of union, heritage, and reconnection, in immersive installations designed to engage all five senses. His mirrors, collages and mezuzahs ship worldwide, and 21,500 people follow the work daily at @alejandroglatt.
Then there is the part that explains the runway.
Glatt spent a formative year in Israel at eighteen. He was in Israel again on October 7, 2023. What came out of that was not retreat. It was GLATT KOSHER POP ART a lifelong joke about his surname turned into a full contemporary movement fusing Jewish identity, pop culture, spirituality, resilience and storytelling. His answer to a world telling Jews to be quieter was to make Jewish art louder, bigger, and more public.
In his words, Jewish art is survival, pride, emotion, community, memory and above all, the freedom to remain visibly Jewish in today's world.
I LOVE JEWISH GIRLS is that idea, scaled up to a ballroom.
His own label, GLATT x SPENGLISH, walks the runway on the 10th: ritual-driven pop art meeting bilingual street vocabulary on moving canvas.
HOW IT STARTED: THE STANDING OVATION IN MIAMI
The concept debuted this summer at The Sagamore Hotel in Miami Beach, hosted by Mira Tzur, where it closed Miami Swim Week to a full house, the first Jewish runway in Swim Week history.
It went from modest design to string bikinis on the same runway, on purpose, because the premise was never one correct way to be a Jewish woman. The moment people still talk about: a 98-year-old Holocaust survivor walked the show as a designer and a participant, and the entire room came to its feet on instinct.
New York is that night, denser and louder, in the middle of the world's biggest fashion conversation.
THE HEADLINERS
MISS UNIVERSE ISRAEL. The collaboration with Miss Universe Israel headlines the New York edition, with Danielle Yablonka, Miss Universe Israel 2026, artist, activist, speaker, taking the runway in special participation. The partnership that began in Miami arrives at Fashion Week.
DUDU FISHER. The Broadway star and Israeli cantor opens the night with Hatikvah and closes it with Jerusalem of Gold. Known around the world as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, the first man to play the role while keeping Shabbat. If you have ever wanted to know what a room of a thousand Jewish New Yorkers sounds like singing along, this is your night.
THE LÉMAN. Steps from the New York Stock Exchange, the Léman Ballroom is the kind of room that makes a night feel historic before anyone has said a word. Two-story fluted columns. Ocean-liner murals. A proscenium stage. The runway runs straight up the center, nobody is watching from the cheap seats, because there aren't any.
And on the guest list: fashion icon Fern Mallis, the woman who created New York Fashion Week itself, is among the expected guests.
THE COLLECTIONS: 18 DESIGNERS, ONE RUNWAY
