China Grants Major Tech Firms Permits for Advanced AI Chips

ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, and Tencent, a major Chinese conglomerate, have each been authorized to receive 10,000 H200 chips. The H200 is a data center processor designed to accelerate machine learning inference and complex computing tasks. Additional Chinese companies may receive similar import permits in coming periods, indicating a broader authorization framework is under development.
