NYC's Biggest Builders Eye $360M Upper East Side Supertall Site

A long-stalled Upper East Side development site is back on the market with a $360 million price tag, more than a decade after last trading for $300 million in 2015. The six-parcel assemblage at 143-161 E. 60th St., located directly across from Bloomingdale's flagship and steps from Lexington Avenue, spans roughly 20,000 square feet with approximately 283,000 square feet of development potential. Unlike previous iterations, the old buildings on the lot have been cleared, leaving developers with a rare opportunity to build on a blank canvas in Manhattan. The property's zoning permits residential or commercial development with no height restrictions, potentially allowing for another 1,000-foot-plus supertower to grace the city's skyline. Listing broker Marlon Schwarcz estimates that developing a high-end project could require roughly $500 million in addition to the land acquisition cost.
