Tehran declares readiness for ‘every scenario,’ tightens grip as Trump delays military action

Maj. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi, commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned Wednesday that any new attack on Iran would trigger a devastating response. “If any further aggression is committed against the soil of Iran, that fire whose promise was previously given and remained confined within the framework of a limited regional war, this time will erupt into flames and transcend every border and domain; you will receive devastating blows that will leave you in abject defeat and consign your ignominy to the annals of history,” Vahidi wrote in a post shared on X. In March, Iranian state media reported that the regime appointed Vahidi — a former defense and interior minister — as the new commander of the IRGC. Vahidi is under U.S. sanctions for his role in Iran’s suppression of protests, including the use of lethal force by security services during the nationwide demonstrations in 2022.
