YAYA Saved You a Seat
Seventeen years ago, a handful of people showed up — and look at us now. What started as a few young Jews who weren't even looking for a Jewish community has somehow, beautifully, become the largest young professional Jewish community in the world. And here's the best part: it wasn't built by a building, a program, or a rabbi. It was built by you. By the friend who dragged a friend. By the host who squeezed one more chair around an already-packed Shabbat table. By the volunteer still sweeping up at midnight. By the person who spotted someone standing alone and pulled them right into the conversation. Chuppahs, babies, Torah, laughter, hard days, dancing — all of it, together. This story has never belonged to one person. It belongs to all of us. And now? The next chapter — and it's a big one. We are beyond thrilled to announce that Chabad Upper East Side and Chabad Young Professionals are making Park East Synagogue our new home. Founded in 1890 and led for decades by the legendary Rabbi Arthur Schneier, Park East is one of the most storied Jewish institutions in the world — and starting this Rosh Hashanah, with G-d's help, it's where you'll find us. Holy Hour Happy Hour? There. Shabbat Day Minyan and Kiddush? There. Classes, holidays, gatherings, everything? All under that gorgeous historic roof. Our whole team is coming too — the same rabbis, educators, staff, and volunteers who built this with you. Same family, stunning new home. Before we go, a huge thank you. To Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun, Rabbi Steinmetz, Rabbi Kraus, and the entire KJ family — you welcomed us, hosted us, partnered with us, and gave our community a place to truly flourish. We will always cherish that, deeply. More details on schedules and High Holiday programming are coming in the next few weeks, so stay tuned! Thank you, Hashem, for this incredible opportunity, and thank you, Rebbe, for the tremendous blessings. May this new chapter bring more Jewish pride, learning, and connection to every corner of the Upper East Side — and may it help usher in a brighter future for our people and the world with the coming of Moshiach. We cannot wait to start this next step with you.
