Center Yourself Productions is hosting a creative matchmaker event designed to connect aspiring filmmakers with potential collaborators and crew members. The event aims to help attendees expand their creative networks and discover new partnerships to support their film projects.
The free event will feature an assortment of activities to introduce participants to potential collaborators, including guided prompts to discover shared values and goals. Attendees will have the opportunity to pitch their current projects and share what they are looking for in future collaborations.
Center Yourself Productions is led by Melissa Center, an actress, award-winning filmmaker, and crowdfunding expert. Center has helped fellow creatives raise over $1.8 million for independent films, plays, and albums. She is currently in prep for her upcoming film, Jewface.
Center's acting credits include roles on Chicago Fire, FBI, This is Us, Grey's Anatomy, and other television productions. She has also performed in theater productions including A Chorus Line, Sex with Strangers, and 50 Words, and originated the stage adaptation of Lois Lowry's The Giver. Center is the Executive Producer of Liner Notes, currently in development, and the producer, co-writer, and star of the feature film All I Want, available on Prime, AppleTV, Vudu, TubiTV, and iTunes.
Center Yourself Productions specializes in uplifting women, Jewish storytellers, queer artists, and their allies. Her directorial work includes the award-winning viral short film R.V, which she co-directed and co-wrote, and His Name is Niv, which she wrote and directed and was inspired by her own experience with sexual assault. She also wrote, starred in, and produced the solo show Marrying Jake Gyllenhaal, which debuted at The Pico in Los Angeles, followed by Edinburgh Fringe Digital and Caveat in New York City.
