Andrew Huberman was locked up by the state for a month at age 16. His release came with the condition that he attend weekly therapy, which he took seriously and credited with turning his life around.
In 2019, a friend challenged Huberman to share his neuroscience research outside the lab, prompting him to post free 1-minute neuroscience videos on Instagram. After gaining traction, he launched his own podcast in December 2020, focusing on 2-hour deep dives into single topics rather than optimizing for short clips.
Andrew Huberman's podcast is now the biggest health podcast in the world, having grown from 8,000 Instagram followers to over a million subscribers within its first year by providing long-form, in-depth content on neuroscience and health topics.
