A new community is being launched in New York City designed to help people find apartments and connections while building a supportive network. The initiative, called Neso, hosts events with the main purpose of helping people find the right people and the right places while reducing feelings of being overwhelmed by the city's environment.
The founder's personal journey with networking events began with apprehension about talking to people and uncertainty about how to engage in such settings. Over the course of three to four years, the founder pushed themselves to embrace discomfort, which led to improvements in networking and public speaking skills. This gradual progression eventually resulted in the founder beginning to host events themselves.
The main purpose of the events hosted by Neso in New York City is to build a community that helps people find the right people, the right places, and feel less overwhelmed by the city's loud and crazy environment.
The author describes their personal journey with networking events as starting off being scared to talk to people and not knowing what to say or do. However, over the course of three to four years, they pushed themselves to be uncomfortable, improved their networking and public speaking skills, and eventually started hosting events.
