Once submitted, these lists can no longer be changed, making the deadline a critical juncture for political parties.
Small parties face significant pressure to unite or risk absorption by larger political movements before this deadline arrives. Parties like Smotrich's Religious Zionism Party are particularly vulnerable, as they must secure enough votes to surpass the four-seat threshold, which represents 3.25% of the vote. Failure to meet this threshold means not entering the Knesset at all.
In response to these pressures, Moshe Feiglin, a former right-wing Knesset member, is set to sign a unification agreement with Smotrich's Religious Zionism Party. Both leaders view the merger as a boost to their electoral prospects, providing a better chance of securing sufficient votes to surpass the threshold needed for Knesset representation.
